GlobalData’s latest analysis of the global planned methanol capacity shows that Iran has the highest planned methanol capacity additions globally, with 30 million tons per year (mtpa) from 2018 to 2022, followed by the US and China with 12 mtpa and 10 mtpa respectively.
Presently, Iran accounts for 54% of the total global planned methanol capacity additions in 2022. The country has 21 planned methanol plants.
