Bijan Namdar Zanganeh has been re-elected as the oil minister for the 12th Government, gaining 230 votes at the parliament.
From a total 288 vote count, Zanganeh earned 230 confidence votes, 35 no confidence votes and 23 abstained votes at the parliament in order to be re-elected as Iran oil minister.
Addressing the parliamentary session to defend his nominee cabinet members of the 12th government, Iran President Hassan Rouhani referred to Zanganeh as a ‘brand name’ to attract foreign investment in Iran oil industry.
Zangeneh was born in March 1953 in Kermanshah. Before gaining the confidence vote today, he used to serve as the minister in three major ministries of petroleum, energy and Jihad of Construction for 26 years.
Zanganeh, is a graduate of Tehran University, holding a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, and started his political career since 1979.
