Preface:

In line with its practice of covering all information, facts, figures and statistics of Iran’s petroleum Industry, IranOilGas Network has embarked on publishing its 5th successive Yearbook arranged in four categories which comprises ‘Iran Upstream Oil & Gas’, ‘Iran Downstream Oil’, ‘Iran Downstream Gas’, and ‘Iran Petrochemicals’, and contains all that took place in Iran’s Petroleum Industry over the past Iranian year – 21st of March 2010 to 20th of March 2011.

During last year, despite all fast track contracts signed for new refining projects in South Pars gas field - due to different reasons such as delay in provision of financial resources as well as goods and required technical services - the other refining projects on hand had been carrying out at a very slow speed.

Managerial shifts, privatization and western sanctions’ bites were among other major causes of delay in implementation of Iran’s projects in downstream gas sector.

According to the figures, sweet gas production as well as its consumption rate in the last year had over 5% and 6% growth compared to its previous year respectively.

Iran gas imports and exports had also escalated substantially in this period.

Domestic banks and financial institutions entering downstream gas projects and the issue of domestic and foreign public bonds for these projects had been of the most significant events happened in this sector last year.

In this edition of ‘Iran Downstream Gas Yearbook’ - besides statistics - an overview of all projects ongoing in Iran’s downstream gas sector last year has been also provided.

IranOilGas Network is pleased with the administration and the great care taken to ensure that the statistics and figures provided in its Yearbooks are all authentic, reliable, and as per information, made known by official sources and the databases available on the Network.

*Note: Throughout this Yearbook, ‘last year’ means Iranian year started on 21st of March 2010 and ended on 20th of March 2011.
